The Passover
"The blood on the houses where you are staying will be a distinguishing mark for you; when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No plague will be among you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt." - Exodus 12:13
The Passover is not only one of the most important Jewish holidays, it is also a clear picture of how God delivers from the consequences of sin today. Just like the people of Israel, we are deserving of death, but because of God's mercy he is willing to "pass over" us. In their day the Israelites needed the blood of of a lamb, in our day we need the blood of Jesus, the spotless Lamb.
Prayer Suggestion: Thank Jesus for shedding his blood on the cross for you so you could be spared "the second death." (Rev 21:8)
